"Northern Minnesota is home to some of the darkest skies east of the Mississippi River. The American West typically gets all the attention - and rightfully so. However, the Great Lakes region is home to gorgeous seascapes, like this tombolo on Lake Superior. Winter is letting go of its icy grip as the early season Milky Way rises above the trees. This is personally one of my favourite scenes, and I love how these trees always stand tall - year after year - through the fury of Lake Superior." MaryBeth Kiczenski
